Robert P. Ambrose - Background


Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from St. Leo College and a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from Troy State University.  Completed Air Force professional education courses of Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College.

Served eight years enlisted time as a flight simulator specialist with F-4s and twenty years commissioned time in the Air Force as a Fighter Aircraft Maintenance Officer.

Commanded two maintenance squadrons of 400 and 650 personnel and led over 1,200 personnel as a Deputy Group Commander.  Led one squadron to Best in the Air Force honors in 1992.  Named Air Combat Command’s top Munitions Maintenance Field Grade Officer in 1997.  Served 14 of 28 years in overseas assignments and retired from the Air Force in 2000.

Purchased home in the Shoal River area of Crestview, FL in 1994 where I live with my wife of 30 years, Becky. Hobbies include traveling throughout the US via motorhome, diving, and golf.

Succeeded in naming Airmen’s Memorial Road after the Air Force terrorist casualties at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996.  Currently a Board Member of the Okaloosa County Board of Adjustments under the Department of Growth Management until 2013.
